Welcome to my blog.
The latest, greatest Kyle initiative has been... well... initiated! KYLE ART RULES...MONDAYS DROOL! Mondays are a bore no more! Every week, I pledge to rock your monday mornings with a brand new kyleart piece of art. It could be a new painting, desktop wallpaper, tshirt designs, a video of me doing a jig.... who knows? As long as it could be loosely argued as visual art... that's what you're going to get.
------------------------------------
Hello Loyal Blog readers.
I have officially taken a week off. Sorry! I am moving on Thursday, and I really don't think it would be a good idea to deal with wet paintings.
The Daily Paintings will be back next week with Monsters and Robots!!! Yeeeeehaw!
in the meantime, go to my ebay store and bid on some flower paintings. if you are into that sort of thing.
------------------------------------
Another two more flower paintings. It was an interesting week... I hope that you enjoyed them. Come back next week for some more-Kyle-like action.
THE FIRST:

"Wallpaper Conundrum"
8" x 8" x 1.5", oil on canvas, all sides are painted, signed on back
Poor little guy. This painting deals with the levels of reality (and unreality) that exist in our world.

"Sunflower"
6" x 12" x 1.5", oil on canvas, all sides are painted, signed on back
SOLD
(location: Prague, Czech Republic)
I was at the local flower shop looking for what to paint next and I came across this single sunflower stem. He arranged his petals in the same way that I fix my hair; messy and angled to one side. It was the obvious choice for today's daily painting.
------------------------------------
Hey all, it has been a couple of days since I posted... So I am giving you two new flower paintings today, and two new ones tomorrow. Let me know what you think (since flowers are outside of my norm).
THE FIRST:

"Cherry Blossom Breeze"
11" x 8" x 1.5", oil on canvas, all sides are painted, signed on back
I love pretty much everything cherry. Cherry wood. Cherry Coke®. Artificially-flavored cherry candies. And apparently, cherry blossoms. They are beautiful. they smell good, feel good, look good.
In this interpretation of the cherry blossom I wanted the blossoms to be very tactile, enriching one of the viewer's senses, much like the actual flower enriches senses.
THE SECOND:

"Subway Flowers"
8" x 8" x 1.5", oil on canvas, all sides are painted, signed on back
So, apparently it is hard to find open flower shops at 6am when I begin painting... or after 11pm when I come home.
When roaming, I found these flowers planted at my subway station.
------------------------------------
Flowers. The prettiness of nature. After a few requests for flowers, that's what this week is all about.
My first fascination with flowers in art came from one of my heroes, Vincent Van Gogh. He painted many flowers over his short career and imbued them with so many different thoughts and feelings.
So, now I get to explore the thing that we bring home to the ladies when we apparently did something wrong - the flower. That and learn about color and light and painting things not directly from my imagination.

"Yellow Rose"
8" x 8" x 1.5", oil on canvas, all sides are painted, signed on back
SOLD
(location: Colorado)
The colors of a rose, when given as a gift, stand for different aspects of a relationship. Yellow is friendship. For when you care about someone and wish their friendship will last forever.
a detail of the painting:
------------------------------------

"Mime VS Mime: Tug O' War"
20" x 10" x 1.5", oil on canvas, all sides are painted, signed on back
SOLD
(location: Tennessee)
it's Mime VS Mime... in the ultimate tug of war!
and here is a detail of the painting:
------------------------------------

"Banana VS Monkey: FRE3 BANANAZ"
12" x 12" x 1.5", oil on canvas, all sides are painted, signed on back
SOLD
(location: New York)
It's Clever Banana Time. Imagine the Coyote and the Road Runner or Spy vs. Spy.
All monkey wants is to fill his belly. and all Banana wants to do is make Monkey's life miserable.
------------------------------------

"Squirrel ON Squirrel: This Is Nut Yours"
14" x 11" x 1.5", oil on canvas, all sides are painted, signed on back
SOLD
(location: Kansas)
Living in New York City, it's no surprise I think squirrels are some of the riskiest, boldest animals around. At the end of the world... it is definitely going to be just squirrels and cockroaches.
In my past experiences, it has always been a squirrel versus me. Like when I am eating at the shake shack and they come up and steal my fries out of my tray (really!). But what if there was only one acorn left... and two squirrels?
------------------------------------

"A Tail of David VS Goliath"
11" x 14" x 1.5", oil on canvas, all sides are painted, signed on back
SOLD
(location: New York)
I was slouching on my sofa the other day, watching MadMen (which you should all be doing, too)... when I glanced to my left. My roommate's cat was perched on the armrest towering over me and looking down. I instantly knew what it might feel like to be one of the mice that she catches.
So, I was inspired to create a "tail" of David vs Goliath... one where Goliath might actually win.
------------------------------------
Hey all. So after a week of semi-hiatus, I am back. well... semi-back. The remaining four VERSUS paintings will start up tomorrow and go through the rest of the week. So fret not, and come back!
In the meantime... I wanted to announce that one of my weeks will be a week of commissions. So if I haven't been painting what you want, this is your week to tweak!
want a portrait of your pet? a painting with specific colors? really want a painting of a junebug?
Commission a Daily Kyle!
the RULES:
-the painting can be of anything and everything
-I will paint it in a day (but take a little more time to plan it with you, and send sketches back and forth)
-the size will be reasonable in comparison to my other daily paintings
-the price will be agreed upon before painting... but will be based on the average sales of previous daily paintings
-the painting won't be auctioned on ebay (like the other dailies) but you will get to own it (after you pay for it, silly).
-first come, first serve... so act now!
EMAIL me for more info or to SIGN-UP.
kylegwalters@gmail.comand remember... tomorrow VERSUS is back!

Continuing "Week-That-Isn't" with "The-Paintings-That-Didn't"...
For those of you just joining us, this week's daily paintings have been put on hold til next week... because... apparently I am human. In the meantime I am sharing sketches of paintings that haven't happened. (get the meta-pun?)
Everyday Ninja... part 2!

Poor Ninja has been caught in the rain. His umbrella couldn't handle the challenge.

The one on the left is Ninja preparing lunch. It's watermelon slices all around.
Been wondering how Ninja stay so fit? He has to lift weights just like the rest of us.

Ninja's Gotta Hug.
Come back tomorrow for some non-Ninja still-should-be-goodness
------------------------------------
So, I am currently rehearsing for a New York Fringe Festival play that I am performing in. ::cough::
Buy Tickets ::cough:: This week is tech week... meaning long nights and having all of my lines memorized (hah! good luck with that...)
I was painting today's VERSUS painting this morning, and realized I was rushing to fill this painting-a-day quota thang... and that's not the point. SOOOOOO I am going to postpone the rest of VERSUS week until next week.
***BUT DON'T TURN OFF THAT RSS FEED QUITE YET!
I will still be posting new stuff each day. New to you, that is.
In keeping with an ironic-idea-theme®, For the "Week-That-Isn't"... I present "The-Paintings-That-Didn't".
Everyday this week I will post some sketches of daily painting ideas that didn't make it onto canvas.
Please enjoy today: Everyday Ninja part one

Me trying to get the character of the ninja right... before I send him off on adventures. I initially tried to make him more copyrightable (kyle sad) by adding a chest emblem... but he's a freaking ninja, not a carebear!

Ninja is hiding himself against a brick wall. He's still a carebear... but apparently the chest-emblem changes... into a brick to help him hide there.

Ninja walking his dog, Fluffy Jr.

Ninja being a spokesperson for the bestest Cola around... Ninja-Drink. Be like a Ninja, drink Ninja-Drink.

Ninja VERSUS ninja at chess (and here you thought you wouldn't see any VERSUS art today. Wrong!) there's also Ninja playing chess against old guy at the park.
Come back tomorrow for more "The-Paintings-That-Didn't" during the "Week-That-Isn't"
------------------------------------
Start the stadium jams. Turn on the fog machines. Roar the crowd. Week Six. Is. Here.
The theme is Versus. What exactly does that mean for the daily painting game? I don't know -- we will find out together over the next five days. But I do know that I am going to have fun, and there will be some epic battles that you might expect, and ones you would never see coming at you.

"Sun VS Moon: Eclipsed!"
14" x 11" x 1.5", oil on canvas, all sides are painted, signed on back
SOLD
(location: New York)
DING DING DING... It's star versus satellite, 12 rounds of fighting over our attention.
------------------------------------

"the Slowdance"
16" x 12" x 1.5", oil on canvas, all sides are painted, signed on back
SOLD
(location: New Mexico)
nothing else in the world matters
